Are you looking for an honest and independent review of The Hare & Hounds, Tetbury? We stayed here for our 15th wedding anniversary and I was so impressed, I thought I’d share my thoughts.
Last week, my boy and I celebrated our fifteenth wedding anniversary.
FIFTEEN YEARS.
I distinctly remember my fifteenth birthday.
I was so very grown up *cough* — and can’t actually believe that I’ve now been married for, what is essentially a lifetime.
Also, we’re now out of the realms of paper and tin — in terms of an appropriate gift — and have launched into another sphere entirely.
Crystal.
But given the fact that we have enough wine glasses to sink a ship; and lead-crystal decanters are not really our bag. My boy had to make do with a pair of personalised cufflinks and I was treated to a surprise weekend away!
My parents had generously offered to look after the twins overnight and my boy’s planning was meticulous. All organised beautifully.
Apart from the weather, which was totally out of his hands.

The Hare and Hounds in Tetbury
Saturday dawned cold and overcast. Actually that’s an understatement. Biblical rain and winds — courtesy of Hurricane Imogen — were sweeping the UK.
Even getting in and out of the car resulted in the ‘fresh out of the shower’ look.
Anyway. Unperturbed by the inclement conditions, off we went!
He’d booked for us to stay at The Hare & Hounds in Tetbury in The Cotswolds.
A beautiful honey-coloured building, with mullioned windows and a lovely interior.
A ‘Very Good Double’ at The Hare and Hounds in Tetbury
Our room was a ‘very good double’ and it was, indeed, very good.
There was a big comfy bed, a little seating area with a TV (good job too as the rugby was on) and even a desk for me to sit and practice my brush lettering.
The perfect setting for a romantic getaway.
The Beaufort Restaurant at The Hare & Hounds
We ate in The Beaufort Restaurant —which has been awarded a 2 AA Rosette (no pictures, sadly, as I’d banned my phone from coming along) — suffice to say the food was delicious.
Rock bass, scallops, venison. Complimentary amuse bouche and an extensive wine menu.
Needless to say, we went to bed very full and very happy.
The next day dawned bright and beautiful. We were treated to blue skies and not a whisper of the rain we’d had the day before.
Such a lovely, lovely place, in which to celebrate a special event and I’d highly recommend it. I’m only hoping that I don’t have to wait another 15 years to go again!

Ooh you lucky lady, did’t he do well?! Very much deserved though! I’m so glad you were able to get a night away and Happy Anniversary. 15 years is a really good reason to celebrate and it looks like the perfect place to get away from it all xx
Thanks love :) I was chuffed to bits — he’s a clever sausage!!! ;)
That looks like a gorgeous place to hide away from the battering wind and rain – and to celebrate your anniversary! Congratulations! Xxx
Aah it was SO lovely. So nice to to just potter around for an afternoon — my boy watched the rugby and I practiced my writing. I can’t remember the last time we were able to just do our own thing, with no interruptions and no agenda. Loved it :)
Congratulations to you both! And another lovely present, your boy seems fab at them!! It does look beautiful, I really like the gold dots on the chair at the desk, so contemporary and yet in keeping. I love the Cotswolds but we don’t go nearly as much since we moved back up north, I must endeavor to put this right. Thank you for hosting xx
Aah he knows me pretty well. Give me lovely surroundings and even lovelier food and I’m a happy bunny!!! ;)
Happy Anniversary – and well done to your husband, what a lovely place to have booked. Dinner sounds wonderful (I’ve only heard of an ‘amuse bouche’ recently – great term and fab idea). Love the photo of you doing your brush lettering (which is beautiful – you and the lettering ;)).
Aw thanks lovely!! Clever boy for picking such a gem eh? The hotel — not me by the way ;)
What a lovely looking room, perfect for a romantic weekend. Glad you had such a wonderful time xx
Thanks hun — it was SO lovely xx
Ah, gorgeous! It looks like it was a beautiful setting for a relaxing, child-free break. Well done on getting to 15 years. We are coming up on our 10th anniversary this year. It has flown!
The hotel reminds me of Lough Rynn Castle in Ireland, where we treated ourselves to a night away last summer. Similar style.

It was SO lovely!! I just wish it hadn’t been raining on the Saturday and we could have gone to the arboretum next door!! Apparently they closed it due to Hurricane Imogen!!
This looks so gorgeous – the decor is fabulous, and the perfect blue sky just sets it all off a treat! We had a wedding in Tetbury not that long ago – wishing we’d splashed out and stayed here now. Congratulations on 15 years – this is the kind of celebration that 15 years demands!
Aah thanks Katy :) It was SUCH a lovely place to stay!! I hope I don’t have to wait another 15 years until the next time :)
Oh, it looks lovely!! We are very fond of Tetbury (we have to drive through it on our way to visit family) but have never actually stayed there. It’s done up BEAUTIFULLY for Christmas! I’m definitely putting this one on the list – especially as we have a big anniversary coming up this year too! Glad you had such a lovely time xx #HomeEtc
It was SO lovely Sue! I bet it’s gorgeous at Christmas! I’d love to go back!
Happy Anniversary!! What a wonderful way to celebrate! xx
Thanks so much Amy — that’s so kind of you xx
Congratulations! What a gorgeous place to stay – he definitely did good! :) I love that gallery on the stairs – such a traditional idea but the choice of art gives it a bit of a modern twist. x #HomeEtc
I LOVED the gallery wall up the stairs. We’ve always had one with black and white photos but am going to re-do it with coloured art instead :)
