Sticky Glazed Chicken Drumsticks Recipe

My favourite kind of food is the sort that you eat with your fingers and this recipe for sticky glazed chicken drumsticks is delicious!!

This sticky glazed chicken is lip smacking, finger licking and tasty and — best of all — it can be shared with others.

I love simple food that isn’t formal or pretentious; the kind that works for picnics and family barbecues.

What is Sticky Chicken Made Of?

I have a favourite sticky glazed chicken drumsticks recipe that I bring to the table every year. Two of the key ingredients are ketchup and honey — however those clever bods at Hellmann’s have combined the two! Which means their Hellmann’s Ketchup Sweetened with Honey works perfectly!

No need for two separate ingredients.

I love that this particular ketchup is sweetened only by honey, so it contains 30% less sugar than regular tomato ketchup too.

Plus has 36% more tomatoes, which means more of the good stuff and less of the bad. It makes my Sticky Glazed Chicken Drumsticks even easier and even more delicious (if that’s possible!).

Sticky Chicken Drumsticks in The Oven

Cook on the BBQ; or — if it’s chucking down outside (or you just can’t be bothered to light the barbecue) — these Sticky Chicken Drumsticks work just as well in the oven.

Super-simple and perfect for bringing the taste of summer indoors.

Here’s what you do.

How To Make Sticky Glazed Chicken Drumsticks

You will need:

6-8 chicken drumsticks
2 tablespoons of virgin olive oil
6 tablespoons of dark soy sauce
2 cloves of garlic
3 tablespoons of Hellmann’s Ketchup Sweetened with Honey
2 tablespoons of marmalade
Salt and pepper to taste

Preheat the oven to 190C/170C fan/gas 5

The method:

1. Mix the Hellmann’s Ketchup Sweetened with Honey together with the soy sauce, olive oil, marmalade and crushed garlic.

Then season with salt and pepper and mix together well.

2. Lay the chicken pieces into an oven proof dish.

3. Next, pour your sticky sauce mixture over the chicken. Make sure that each one is coated thoroughly.

4. Pop the chicken into the preheated oven and bake for 50 minutes.

5. Serve and enjoy!

What Should I Serve with Chicken Drumsticks?

I served mine here with a tasty crushed new potato salad with créme fraîche, lemon and dill and a sweetcorn salsa.

You can also serve them with Mini Hasellback potatoes with garlic and chilli. Really easy to make and a real showstopper, if you want to impress your guests!

The drumsticks are perfect for picnics and barbecues; really yummy served either hot or cold.

  • 2 tablespoons of marmalade

  1. Preheat the oven to 190C/170C fan/gas 5. Then mix the Hellmann’s Ketchup Sweetened with Honey together with the soy sauce, olive oil, marmalade and crushed garlic. Season with salt and pepper and mix together well.


  2. Pop the chicken into the preheated oven and bake for 50 minutes.
