A Mothers Day Card Template
Looking for a sweet and thoughtful gift to make for Mother’s Day? I’ve created a mothers day card design that your mum or grandmother will treasure forever. You can either print it directly onto card or cut the design out of paper and frame it. The Mothers Day card template files are simple to download. Simply follow the instructions!

A group of fellow creatives and I have a monthly prompt to design a print or cut file for scrapbooking or crafting.
We’ve had some lovely themes already — a ‘space’ prompt for which I created a free space SVG. America (I created a star-spangled banner heart). And ‘Farm’, for which I designed a counting sheep decal.
This month the prompt is mothers day so our little gang have been creating mothers day designs.

And, finally, here’s the design that I created for our mothers day round up.
A lot of the designs I’ve previously created have been more for vinyl crafting, rather than paper. But for Valentine’s Day I created a free papercut design. It has been really popular with readers so I thought I’d create a similar thing for Mother’s Day.
The design can be printed to make a lovely mothers day card. Then once Mother’s day is over, it can be popped into a frame.
If you’d like to create a mothers day card or gift that your mum will treasure, this might be just the kind of thing you were looking for. And — best of all — it’s free to download!
There are so many uses for design. Although I’ve titled the post ‘mothers day card’, actually it can be used in so many other ways.
Other Uses For This Mothers Day Template
There are so many uses for this Mother’s Day template. You can use the SVG or the PNG file. Personally, I prefer the PNG file. You can print it or just upload it to Cricut.
Here are a few ideas:
You can use the template to create a sweet Mother’s Day papercut, as shown above.
Or you could cut the design out of heat transfer vinyl and iron it onto a plain cushion cover to create a gorgeous home decor item.
You can print it out and pop it in a frame. You wouldn’t even need to use the design as a papercut and it would still look really striking.
Or simply print it out onto a card to create a Mothers Day card to treasure.
Once mothers day is over, the card could be popped into a frame, as shown above.
The design could work equally well as a birthday card.
Make a Mothers Day Card She’ll Treasure Forever
As I’ve already mentioned, you could simply print out the PNG file and crop it to your desired size with scissors or a trimmer, then pop the printout into a frame. Or print on card or stiff paper for a lovely greeting card, as shown in the image above.
Or, if you’re lucky enough to have a Cricut (or Silhouette Cameo) cutting machine, you can turn the design into a beautiful papercut card.
Here’s how I did it, using my Cricut Maker.
How to Use This Mothers Day Card Template with a Cricut
1. Download the mothers day card template.
2. Open the Cricut Design Space and create a rectangle the size you’d like your card to be. My rectangle here is 11 inches wide by 7 inches high. So when my card is cut and folded, the horizontal card itself is 5.5 inches high by 7 inches wide.
I’ve used a score line in the middle of the card but this isn’t totally necessary. If you don’t have a scoring wheel, you can simply fold your finished card in half.
3. Upload the PNG (or SVG) file to the Cricut Design Space and add it to the canvas. Then, resize the design to the size and position you’d like it on your card. You can also recolour the design in Design Space to make it easier to see. I’ve chosen yellow, to make it stand out from the background.
4. Next, create a second rectangle just slightly smaller than your papercut design.
Then drag it so it’s over the top of the design. You’ll see the edges of the papercut design peeking out underneath, as shown in the image below.
5. Next, click the small rectangle, followed by the larger rectangle, whilst holding down the shift key. Then click the slice button in the layers palette.
6. Click on the smaller rectangle and press delete. Then repeat.
You’ll be left with the papercut image within the larger rectangle.
7. If you’re using a scoring tool, you can move the score centre line layer to the top of the layers palette. Select both the rectangle shape and the mother design, click ‘Combine,’ and then ‘Weld.’
8. Et voila! You’ll be left with a perfect mothers day card design, ready to cut in whatever colour cardstock you like. I cut my card in white and put an inner card in yellow to let the papercut design really sing.
