Everyday Luxuries: Gifts For Her

I haven’t done a round up post for so long! But as the shops are now opening and we (definitely) all need a treat; I thought I’d share some ‘gifts for her’ ideas. Some little, everyday luxuries that will make the day-to-day feel just that little bit more special.

Four Of The Best Gifts For Her

Jewellery

Jewellery isn’t something that I regularly buy for myself. It’s usually a gratefully received (more-often-than-not) surprise gift; or something that I’d put on my wish list.

But, if I’ve learnt anything from the last 12 months, it’s that we should take small pleasures where we can; and treat ourselves!

Granted, I’m not talking about investment pieces (although, if you have the spare cash, why the hell not?!).

But there are loads of lovely great value jewellers online and on the high street and if a shiny new bangle — or pretty necklace — raises smile, why wouldn’t we reward ourselves every once in a while.

Some of my current favourites are from Daisy London. Their rings collection is full of gorgeous, unusual pieces; either in 18ct gold plate or sterling silver.

I wear their intricate Crown Chakra ring, most days. And I’ve also got a couple of their necklaces.

They’re perfect for layering with other pieces. I love their Estée Lalonde collection; particularly the Goddess Shield necklace.

Whilst they’re not particularly expensive, they are beautifully made and presented; and give an everyday outfit a little lift.

Lingerie

Talking of little lifts…I’ve written about the importance of good foundations before on the blog.

I wore the wrong bra size for years. It was only when I went to a Fantasie Lingerie event — and was measured properly — that I found out what size I should be wearing.

I went from a 36B to a 34DD and it literally felt like my boobs changed shape overnight!

The proper fit and cup-size gave my breasts the support they so desperately needed. Instead of being squashed into two boulder-holders, they’re now gently (but firmly) held in place by a beautiful, well constructed bra.

It was noted — by more than one person — that I looked like I’d had a boob-job. Simply by wearing a bra that fits properly!

Talking of which, Fantasie has recently just launched a free one-on-one virtual bra fitting service in the UK.

The one-on-one virtual fittings will be available via a 3rd part booking platform, where you can meet a Fantasie fit specialist, in a convenient and private way.

They’ll give you professional, accurate fitting advice; whether it’s to find out your bra size or to help with finding the right bra style to suit your shape.

I highly, highly recommend the service. Wearing a bra that fits is kind of like slipping into a warm bath!

Plus — comfort and relief aside — it makes you feel sassy and sexy to know that you’ve got beautiful lingerie under your basic working from home wear.

Stationery

Third on my list of gifts for her is beautiful stationery.

We’ve relied so heavily on digital connections over the last year.

Zoom, Facetime, email and Whatsapp have been a lifeline for most of us. Technology has enabled us to have face to face conversations (albeit on a screen) and I’m so grateful for that.

But, occasionally, a handwritten letter or note is something that will make make a heart soar.

Beautiful notelets, like these are not only a joy to write on but also to receive.

And to make the letter writing experience even lovelier, why not treat yourself to a beautiful writing implement?

Pen Heaven have hundreds of gorgeous pens; everything from ballpoints to rollerballs.

And you can even have some of them engraved.

Treating yourself to a lovely new notebook or pen may not be something that you’d immediately think of but, I promise you, using a beautifully bound book and special pen — even to write a to-do list or the weekly shopping list — is up there with some of the very best things in life.

Skincare Treats

And finally, last on my list of little everyday luxuries, are treats for your skin.

I’ve shared various skincare products before, but for the last 9 months I’ve been using products by Typology Paris.

As the name would suggest, they’re based in France; and their skincare products are vegan, cruelty free and — best of all — they work!

The packaging is simple, along with the preparations within.

Typology formulas are pared back and contain only the most-essential, natural active ingredients.

You begin by filling out a skin diagnosis form online and the clever Typology computer will tell you what you need for your skin type.

You can then decide if you want to order some — or all — of the products recommended for you; based on the answers you’ve given.

I’ve been religiously using using their 0.3% retinol oil — along with 3% hyaluronic acid. And the Typology Crème hydratante  is my favourite moisturiser to date.

Obviously, over lockdown, there have been no opportunities to visit a spa or salon. So it’s been lovely treating my skin at home, with products that, not only, look and feel luxurious; but also make a visible difference.

Et voila; as the French would say.

Gifts For Her… Gifts For Him…

Although I’ve titled this post ‘gifts for her’ — clearly any of these treats would work for men too.

The Typology skincare is gender neutral; suitable for him and her. Daisy London has a great ‘Gifts For Him’ section. And stationery is always a great gift for the man in your life.

And the lingerie?

Well, I can confirm that my lovely lingerie definitely also puts a smile on Mr D’s face ;)
