Laura Ashley Press Show SS17

One of the loveliest things about my job is being invited along to the press shows of the amazing brands I work with, so when an invite to the Laura Ashley Press Show SS17 pinged into my inbox I was very excited indeed.

It’s a real treat to see the product before it hits the shops and — particularly in the winter — being able to fill your eyes with lots of colour and newness is a glorious thing indeed.

The perfect antidote to winter.

The girls at Laura Ashley are lovely and have always been so supportive; encouraging my mad-cap ideas (wallpapering a ceiling anyone?) — and incredibly patient to boot (always a bonus when real life gets in the way and the deadlines slip).

Their HQ is a bit of a trek from our village but I couldn’t wait to see what they have in store for us for the coming year. Needless to say, it was so worth the journey.

I was greeted by a door surrounded with summer blooms; such a sight for sore eyes. And what followed was equally as lovely.

Changing Seasons

There were such a lot of lovely things to see.

Fashion-wise, it looks like the boho trend is going to be big for next spring and summer.

I spotted some gorgeous painter smocks and pinafore dresses. LOTS of beautiful pattern — ditsy florals and geometric prints — and colour. With a very welcome smattering of my favourite shade too (I need the beautiful sunflower yellow bag with bamboo handles in my life — it cheers you up just to look at it!).

There was a lovely homespun feel to much of the fashion  — lots of vintage inspired shapes and sweet, crafty detailing — crochet, brushed felt and embroidery.

In homeware, the botanical trend was still really strong — lovely prints inspired by nature — plus lots and lots of lovely colour.

There was the most beautiful raspberry pink velvet chair; the kind of thing that, if it lived in my home, would be all mine.

‘Mummy’s chair’ — to read, draw, watch TV in.

Living in a houseful of boys, I’m pretty careful not to overload our home with too much pink but every girl needs a bright pink chair, right?

Colour Your World

Good to see that the greys are still holding on for another season too.

I got rid of the dark grey in our snug earlier in the autumn, in favour of a much lighter shade; it’s so versatile and works as the perfect backdrop for whatever shade you put with it.

I love this entirely grey sitting room— lots of layers and shades of the same colour — so restful.

So there we have it — a little look at the Laura Ashley Press Show SS17 and a tiny taster of what we’ll see hitting the shops in the new year.

Now isn’t that something lovely to look forward to? :)

  1. I read this with the same expression I have on my face when I sit down with the family to watch strictly come dancing…a smile on my face. Like strictly, beautiful homewares and gorgeous chairs make me happy! I looooved looking at the great photos of all of the pieces they’ve put together! When I saw the pink chair on Instagram I thought it WAS yours. Obviously wishful thinking on your behalf. Thanks for the sneak peek. #hometc

  2. So much gorgeousness in one post, where do I start?

I am a HUGE Laura Ashley fan, it actually makes my Dad laugh so hard as he only let us have LA dresses as children and we hated them so much.

That bag, I need it in my life, I can not wait to see the new lines in store, its my secret spot when I have half hour on the school run as it is so close to Graysons school xx

  3. I was there too and I loved all the floral and colourful items. Unfortunately I spent most of the time talking to the design ladies (I talk too much!!) so I didn’t get to take many pictures.
