A week ago I had some really REALLY exciting news — I’ve only been nominated in the Britmums Brilliance in Blogging Awards 2019!!!
*cue clapping of hands and high pitched squealing*
Amazingly, The Listed Home has been shortlisted in the Lifestyle category; along with four other blogs.
I say ‘amazingly’ as the blogosphere is absolutely saturated these days, so to stand out enough to be nominated is really humbling.
To make it to the last five, in such prestigious awards, is such an honour.

The Times They Are a Changing
When I began writing this blog, it was for no other reason than to diarise how I was feeling at the time.
I’ve said many times before, I didn’t know there was an ‘influencer’ culture back then. So everything that followed — work-wise — came by way of a happy accident.
I had no idea that social media was a thing; just loved chatting to like-minded strangers over on Twitter — and used Facebook purely as a way of keeping up to date with friends and family. I certainly didn’t have a page!
Instagram didn’t exist — and I didn’t have my YouTube channel at that point either.
My blog was literally an entity in it’s own right; it didn’t need any social channels supporting it. It was just an online diary.
Roll forward almost 7 years and social media has taken off in such a big way.
The University of London conducted a survey last year that asked primary school children what they wanted to be when they grew up; Social Media and Gaming came out at number 4 in the list — way outstripping singers/musicians and first responders.
It’s a crazy digital world we live in, that’s for sure.
Things have changed so much over the last couple of years.
Instagram is the platform of choice these days and there’s often speculation that blogs are on borrowed time.
But, for me, my blog will always be my favourite place to post content.
It’s not affected by algorithms — or at the mercy of the huge corporate business that’s hosting it — it’s mine. A tiny corner of the internet where I can share snippets of our lives, write how I feel and store all the memories of the things we’ve done, the places we’ve been.
I really, really love it.
Brilliance in Blogging Awards 2019
So — given how much I love my blog — to be nominated in the Brilliance in Blogging Awards 2019 is pretty thrilling.
It’s been taking up quite a lot of headspace over the last week; I’ve found myself doodling the logo when I should be working!!
I’m so grateful to anyone who voted for this little online space in the first place! But — in order to be crowned the winner — I need your help.
Please would you vote for me?!
The Listed Home is in the Lifestyle category/number 15 — just click the link below to be taken to the voting portal.

Voting closes at 11.45pm on Friday 4th October 2019.
Then the BiBs winners will be announced live on Twitter on 10th October at 1pm GMT.
Always The Bridesmaid…
I’ve been nominated for a BiBs award before — but never been lucky enough to win.
It would mean the world to scoop the prize and to replace the ‘Finalist’ badge with a ‘Winner’ one.
Keep everything crossed for me!!
