Want to create a space themed bedroom for your little one without redecorating the whole room; or breaking the bank?
I’ve just given the boy’s bedroom a little revamp — and totally changed the look and feel — just by painting a wall and adding a few new accessories.

Space Themed Accessories
There are so many fantastic outer space bedroom accessories out there, for both boys and girls. You can go the whole hog and get everything from wallpaper to soft furnishings.
But if you want to do a quick ‘glow-up’ — and create a big impact — without having to cover every surface in moons and starts, I’ve got a brilliant little hack.
I used little constellation decals when I updated the boys room last time round; they’re really inexpensive and simply to apply.
And — best of all — they’re easy to remove once you’re fed up of them.
I also used a sweet little felt garland from H&M Home.
This was bought last year and isn’t in stock now, but Etsy have some that are almost identical.
Paint It Black
I think the biggest impact was painting the chimney breast black.
I used Railings by Farrow and Ball, which is a lovely soft shade — and has a bluish tone.
If you don’t have a chimney breast you could just mark off a section of wall; colour-block a square or rectangle, or paint from floor to ceiling.
Colour-blocking is a such a great way to add interest to a room. If you’re feeling brave, you can even continue up and over the ceiling, to create an almost ‘canopy’ effect.
Painting the wall gave an otherwise bland room a little bit of interest.
And to make it sing, I added some space themed wall art from Desenio.
Space Bedroom Decor From Desenio
Desenio have got some really lovely space themed decor. From astronauts to planets; rockets to the phases of the moon, they’ve got some design-led, affordable prints, that will brighten up any room.
I chose four prints to go on the boys feature wall.
Two are graphic, whilst the others are photographs. They pull in the orange and blue colours from the felt bunting and give the room a lovely, cohesive feel.
Initially, when I told my mum I was painting a wall in the boys’ room black, she was a little bit horrified!!
‘OH NO!!! YOU CAN’T PAINT A CHILD’S ROOM BLACK!!!!’
But I’m so pleased I did.
The rich black background has given the artwork a lovely boost. It’s made the colours really pop and is a lovely frame for the images.
And my two little cosmic kids sit at their desk, colouring in my friend Sarah’s, free downloadable rocket colouring sheet, then go to sleep at night, looking at the image of the astronaut on their wall; dreaming that one day they might walking on the moon themselves.

Now this is amazing. I would love this!
