Pictures of a Pirate Birthday Party | Siblings March

Looking for pictures of a pirate birthday party? I took more than 400 images of the twins’ third birthday at the weekend!

I’ve managed to cut them down as much as I can, but you’ll still see what we got up to in the pics below.

As quick as a flash, the not so ‘terrible twos’ are over and my sons are into another year of their lives.

Lots of folk have said to me recently:

‘Ooh, I bet you’ll be glad when the two’s are over won’t you?’

But I can honestly say — hand on heart — no, I’m not glad it’s over.

Growing Up Fast

I’m delighted to have seen my two little boys safely into another year of their lives but time seems to be gobbled up so quickly these days.

They’re speeding, ever faster, away from the babies I once knew. I love the fact that they’re growing up into such amazing little people but I wish it wasn’t happening quite so fast.

Their birthday dawned misty, with the promise of sunshine — a far cry from the day that I met my babies for the first time. There was snow on the ground that day and the sky was the colour of iron.

It was bitterly cold and I remember feeling so fearful, wondering if I was going to be able to keep them warm enough — they were so tiny and fragile.

Three years on and the babygrows have been replaced by jeans and hoodies, the booties have given way to cute little sneakers and the tiny, mewling little scraps of skin and bone are now mop-headed, rambunctious little boys.

We celebrated with a pirate birthday party — a little gathering of friends and family — and more chocolate and cake than you can shake a (piñata) stick at.

It was so much fun decorating the house, ready for the party! I can totally see how party planners get hooked into doing that for a living.

I found some amazing pirate themed tableware and decorations from a website called Party Delights.

They’ve got SO much stuff to choose from. It was really difficult to make a decision. Balloons, party favours, a fantastic range of tableware — and not just for little pirates either.

They also do an amazing line in Halloween props! We use them for our annual Halloween party.

The boys wore sweet little striped tops by Bob & Blossom.

I’d decided against getting them dressed up head to toe in pirate fancy dress but a little nod to the theme, by way of a nautical stripe, was perfect.

Fun In The Sun

We played Piñata — this was the first time that the boys had done this and they took great delight in belting a giant treasure chest, which we’d filled with chocolate coins.

I’m so thankful it was such a beautiful afternoon too, being able to get outside in the fresh air made me feel as thought we’ve finally said goodbye to the winter.

The Most Amazing Pirate Party

All in all the most amazing day — a pirate birthday party for my two favourite little people — and a fitting celebration to mark them turning three.

They are the absolute light of our lives; more precious than I can put into words. Their daddy and I were happy before they arrived — he’s my best friend in the whole world and we love each other’s company — but the arrival of our sons shifted everything, in a way that I couldn’t really have imagined and made everything complete.

They altered our relationship in the best way possible; changed our label as ‘a couple’ into that of ‘parents’.

I love these little faces more than I can say! Here’s to them and to a magical, brilliant fourth year — Happy Birthday Twinkles xx

  3. We had this pirate themed party for my eldest last year and he loved it. There are so many different pirate things out there that you can buy for parties. This year luckly there is no theme as we have hired a play bus so the kids can go in there and play.
