I think anyone who knows me — or reads my blog — will have a good idea what my favourite colour is.
It hasn’t always been that colour though. It’s changed throughout my life.
In my teens it was purple.
I wore purple dungarees and lavender suede desert boots — with purple ribbons for laces — I had violet streaks in my hair and was generally (as you can be in your teenage years) a little bit compulsive about it. I even wrote a diary post listing all of the synonyms of the colour purple.
As you do when you’re 16.
Weirdo.
Anyway, moving swiftly on.

Colour Me Happy
In my twenties and early thirties, it was blue.
Baby blue, navy blue, teal and turquoise. Lots of variants of the same colour, in a myriad of different shades. I was definitely less obsessed by it —but subconsciously used to gravitate towards things in that colour, for sure.
But for the last decade, my eyes and heart are drawn to the colour yellow.
It’s such a happy-making colour — endlessly cheerful — particularly when the weather is grey. It’s the colour of sunshine and positivity.
And the colour of my latest Pantone post.
The next in the palette for 2016 is Pantone Buttercup.
I love the description given by Leatrice Eiseman, who’s the Executive Director for the Pantone Colour Institute. She says;
‘While the majority of the 2016 palette trends toward calmness, a few diversions from the theme emerge that offer a contrast. With Pantone Buttercup 12-0752 , designers reveal a shining beacon transporting its wearer to a happier, sunnier place.’
And it’s so true isn’t it?
Even if you’re not a huge fan of the colour yellow — or you like it but not next to your skin — it’s difficult not to be cheered by a little glimpse of it.
I’ve pulled together my favourite pieces.
You’d have to be pretty brave to wear the gorgeous, draped dress from Zara but I reckon even the least daring of us could get away with a bright notebook, or a clutch-bag.
And if you’re feeling a little braver, what could be more lovely than a little flash of the bright heel of a boot or the skinny stripes on a Breton style sweater.
Colour Your World in Pantone Buttercup

2. Auklet, Yellow — Kim Kwang

I’ve loved putting this little collection together.
To be honest, I found SO many gorgeous bits and pieces in this lovely shade that I struggled to narrow it down to eight — I could have easily picked the same amount again — but they certainly give a little taster of the kind of product that’s currently available online, in Pantone Buttercup.
PS — the little clutch bag from Whistles is currently in the sale for just £30! Bargain!
Next colour in the line-up is the Pantone colour of the year for 2017:
