When you think of Cornish holiday cottages, what’s the first thing that springs to mind when it comes to decor?
Blue.
Whitewashed wood.
Seaside themed accessories.
Certainly not punchy brights, designer prints and funky furniture then?
No. Me either.
I must admit, they certainly wouldn’t be top of my ‘Cornish cottage decor’ list. So when we went to Bosinver Farm Cottages back in May, I was really delighted to find something a little different from the norm.
There are twenty cottages at Bosinver and none of them fit the stereotypical ‘coastal holiday cottage’ mold.
They’re all individually decorated — and brimming with colour and pattern.
Bright and Beautiful Decor
It’s lovely to go somewhere where the decor has been so carefully curated.
Very often I feel that holiday cottages rely on the beauty of their surroundings; and the interiors are often a little bit basic or tired. They’re so often just ‘somewhere just to rest your head’ — rather than a place to actually spend time in and really enjoy.
Bosinver Farm Cottages are all so homely. The decor is definitely not just an afterthought.
I loved how some of the bedrooms had sweet little dolls sitting on the beds or chairs; or strings of bunting or fairylights festooned on the walls or threaded over the beams.
The cottages have been totally kitted out with young families in mind too.
There are high-chairs, cots and stairgates available in each. Plus child friendly cutlery, plates and bowls.
The Devil is in The Detail
The attention to detail in all the rooms is wonderful but one of the things I loved the most were the floral arrangements.
We had the most beautiful flowers and herbs in Jack’s Barn, in the week that we stayed.
They’re created by a local florist, Juliet Gould, at Cornish Farm Flowers. Lovely to have local produce that changes with the seasons.
Although we went to Bosinver in the spring, as many of the cottages had log burners or fireplaces, it would be a brilliant place to go for a winter break.
So nice to cosy up indoors and play board-games or read.
I can imagine that Christmas at Bosinver would certainly be a memorable experience.
The kitchens are all fully equipped with everything you need to whip up a culinary masterpiece; so Christmas dinner would be sorted.
Mr D was thrilled to discover that as well as baking tins and drawers full of basics they even had a garlic press — and salt and pepper.
Those things are are so often overlooked in a holiday rental.

Style and Substance
Bosinver teamed up with award winning interiors stylist Jessica Forbes to create the interiors for their holiday cottages.
Gorgeous prints and patterns wherever you look — with furnishings from Clarissa Hulse, Graham and Green and Lacroix to name a few — there is definitely more to Bosinver Farm Cottages than your average Cornish holiday rental.
Very little blue, whitewashed wood or seaside themed accessories to be seen, in fact.
Not a piece of driftwood in sight.
