These captured moments were taken last year. It was July and we’d taken Dolly The Vintage Caravan to a farm nearby our home; for a camping weekend with a couple of other families.
It was a baking hot weekend and our friends were due to arrive, from London, later on in the day. We’d finished setting up camp and I’d wandered off with the camera.
It’s such a beautiful place.
The view from the hill is magical. There are not many places, in the UK, that still have views of unbroken countryside.
These days, the skyline is littered with pylons, telephone lines and windmills.

Wild Camping
The wild campsite we go to is a rare place indeed.
We’re lucky enough that the farm is owned by the parents of some really good friends. As a result, we’ve been lucky enough to spend a lot of time there.
There’ve been festivals and parties held there. And since having the boys, there’s nothing we like better than to head off in Dolly The Caravan. On a spur of the moment camping trip.
Taking the littles camping is something I LOVE.
Particularly when it’s to a non-commercial campsite! Being able to kick of your shoes and run about freely — and safely — is a gorgeous feeling. For adults and children alike.
Where Can You Go Wild Camping in the UK?
I’ve written a whole post about wild camping in the UK.
If you’re lucky enough to have a friend with a beautiful farm, such as the one we go to, then you’re good to go. But, if not, what are the options?
I’ve written some notes about where wild camping in the UK is legal. Have a look if you’d like to know more.
Camping Scenes with Dolly The Vintage Caravan
These pictures remind me so well of such a lovely weekend!
Everything was so quiet. And as I came back to the van, I could see my three favourite boys; sitting at the table, with the most glorious view behind them.
We’re so lucky to live in this beautiful country. Memories, like these, are ones to be treasured.

What gorgeous photos. Sometimes it is easy to forget how beautiful the UK really is. And you’ve captured the beauty of our country perfectly in the snaps. You have a lovely family. And I LOVE your caravan. Uber cool. Hugs Mrs H xxxx #MyCapturedMoment
Aww thanks gorg!! We bought Dolly before we had the boys and she’s only 2 berth — we spent so much time prettying her up though that I feel sad to part with her to upgrade to a 4 berth!! X
Wow looks beautiful! The idea of going camping in this country never really crossed my mind but that looks stunning! Such a great holiday for the little ones xx #mycapturedmoment
I can’t recommend it enough Christine!! Our country has SO much to offer… the countryside is just beautiful. The only downside is the weather!!! ;) X
I love the fact you have a caravan called Dolly! Can we go on holiday together please? hee hee! I have a friend I know you would love! She too LOVES trance like you and I! We went to Santa Pod for Bug Jam – it was truly amazing! She did a cheeky wind up on me and said “we are going back to the tent now” only to be coaxed into a tent playing HARD TRANCE!!! That’s why she’s one of my bests! Beautiful captured moments gorgeous lady!! Love you!! xxx
Haha! Bless Dolly — she’s like a member of our family!! Yes — you’re more than welcome to come with us — the more the merrier! ;) Santa Pod is just down the road from us, funnily enough, although I’ve never been! Thanks lovely — love you lots :) X
I love your caravan! Beautiful pictures of your lovely family too, I cannot wait for some more sunshine and warmth.
Thanks so much Stephanie! Me too — roll on spring! X
I long for summer days like this again and the freedom of outdoors without coats and jumpers. Only a month or so now and a few days like this may well shine through. Your camping spot looks idyllic. thank you for sharing on Country Kids.
Aaah me too! It really is such a beautiful spot — I can’t wait until the weather warms up! Thanks so much for hosting! X
This made me miss camping a lot. We started last year but when the weather started to get cold we have to stop. I wish we have a caravan! But we will definitely go back into it this spring summer! This looks like a lovely day =) #countrykids
Me too Merlinda! I absolutely love it! Although I’m not sure I’d love it so much if we didn’t have Dolly! I’m a bit too long in the tooth for sleeping is a tent!! ;) X
Your friend’s farm sounds lovely – just the type of place we love to go with Tin Box. Beautiful photos and wonderful memories x
It’s so lovely there. We had 4 or 5 weekends there last year — so lucky to have it just on the doorstep! x
I love the caravan – it looks idyllic. Making me long for warm weather and holidays with the family…xx
Thanks Georgie — I hated caravans when I was younger!! They always look so boring! Decorating Dolly was lots of fun — it’s lovely going away for weekends in her now — like a proper little home from home! :) x
