Have you ever wanted to learn how to make a pom pom wreath? Last Christmas I saw an amazing pom pom wreath in Anthropologie. I loved it — but it was so expensive. I decided to try and see if I could make one myself!
Ever since the twins and I learnt to make pom poms with a pom pom maker at Camp Bestival, we’ve made loads of pom poms. They’re a great way of prettying up a plain blanket or basket.
Making the pom poms is so easy. Bertie was literally churning them out! The trickiest thing about this make, is where to place them on the polystyrene ring.

How to Make a Pom Pom Wreath
You will need:
Wool — I used a pack of various colours
Pom pom makers of varying sizes (this is optional, you can make them the old fashioned way if you prefer)
A polystyrene ring — I used the same kind as for my faux flower wreath
Hot glue-gun and glue sticks
Method:
- Decide what colours and sizes to make your pom poms. You could make them all a uniform size and colour — or have a mixture like we have here.
The Anthropologie pom pom wreath I saw had loads of different colours and sizes. It was so striking; so we decided to do the same.
2. Get making your pom poms!
You can use the old fashioned method; using cardboard circles. Or — much easier — you can use a pom pom maker. They’re so simple to use; even a child can do it!
I’ve written a tutorial showing how make pom poms using a pom pom maker.
3. When you’ve got a decent number of pom poms, you can begin to place them on, just to see where you’d like them to sit.
4. Next, start gluing the pom poms in place on the wreath.
I put the glue directly onto the wreath, then stuck the pom pom on top.
Holding the pom pom in place for a minute until the glue was totally dry.
5. Repeat the process until you’ve stuck all the pom poms on the polystyrene ring.
6. And there you have it! That’s how to make a pom pom wreath (like Anthropologie). For a fraction of the cost.
It looks amazing but — best of all — making pom poms kept the kids happy for HOURS. We made so many!
