Watercolour crockery for summer dining

Every once in a while, something stops me in my tracks and I end up becoming totally fixated with it, until its mine.

It began with a cuddly monkey (called Lucy) — that had a yellow dummy in it’s mouth and a rose sprinkled bonnet and nappy — when I was around 8 years old.

Then a super-soft and snuggly faux-fur duffle coat, with a GINORMOUS hood, when I went off to university.

A pair of wooden Prada wedges from New York (still getting lots of wear after many years).

Cushions (there have been a LOT of these).

Numerous pairs of gorgeous sunglasses (generally spotted in The Sunglasses Hut in various airports — I’m a sitting duck in that kind of situation — no escape from this one).

Anyway. You get the picture.

I must say, it doesn’t happen that frequently but when it does it’s like a lightening bolt. I have my head totally and utterly turned and am totally intoxicated.

It happened again this week and I just thought I’d share. They say a problem shared is a problem halved, don’t they? My shopping addiction is definitely a problem if you ask my husband ;)

Anyway. I was browsing the Anthropologie website and came across the most beautiful painted crockery.

The most gorgeous Watercolour crockery

A thing of beauty, I think you’ll agree.

The watercolour trend is huge this summer.

I first spotted it at the Matalan Spring/Summer 16 show last year. Gorgeous watercolour paintings had made their way onto duvet covers and cushions and it was such a lovely change from graphic or geometric prints.

Lovely to see crockery getting the same treatment.

I can imagine a summer lunch table, set out with a white tablecloth, dotted with all these pretties.

We have our annual summer family barbecue happening this year and I’m just debating whether I can manage without at least one of those lovely plates.

One? ;)

  1. Gorgeous! If you like these you might like pretty much everything from Bluebellgray. I’ve wanted to splurge on them for so long but never get around to it. One Day!

  2. I love these – and I can see why you need them. I think I need them too. And of course you need one. And then another to keep it company. And then well you’ve got two you might as get four. And six would be a lovely set… Thanks for hosting #homeetc
