Back in July I chose a new black and white geometric rug for my she-shed.
I spent a long time deciding on the colour, size and style.
I deliberated over patterns (I wanted something quite graphic).
Mulled over sizes (I needed something large enough to cover the main area of my work space to keep me cosy in the winter months).
Then after trawling the internet (for what felt like an age) finally found the perfect one from a fantastic online shop, aptly named My Rug Store.

My New Black and White Geometric Rug
The rug arrived quickly — all wrapped up in it’s plastic covering — then literally sat in the corner, patiently waiting for my shed to be finished, so it can be laid out in pride of place. Poor rug.
Until now.
Last weekend, with my dining room makeover almost complete, I suddenly decided that my new rug would be the perfect finishing touch.
So I’ve essentially ‘stolen’ it off myself!! Is it even possible to do that?
It’s SO gorgeous!!! I’m totally and utterly delighted with it.
My Rug Store had a fair few geometric designs to choose from but I had plumped for the Medina rug in black; a Kilim rug with a bold black and white diamond pattern.
On paper it could have been fairly dark, busy and a little overpowering but its surpassed all expectations and upon closer inspection it’s more a soft charcoal grey and absolutely stunning.
Not sure if it’s feasible to fall in love with a rug but I have pretty strong feelings towards this one, let me tell you!
It’s a flat rug, woven from 100% wool pile, and it feels much, much more expensive than it’s £199.99 price-tag.
It feels so soft — it’s almost like touching silk — and feels amazing underfoot.
Rug Of Dreams
It works so beautifully.
I couldn’t decide where I wanted it initially — and originally had it in middle of the room (as the Medina works well in high traffic areas) — but after careful consideration, I’ve popped it under the dining table.
It looks like it was made to be there and gives the dining area real focus; plus it’s great to have a floorcovering underneath to table, to protect the carpet from messy eaters!
To run the risk sounding like a stuck record, I’m so, so pleased with it. If you’re looking for well priced, fabulous quality rugs I highly, highly recommend My Rug Store.
The only negative to this story is that now I am left with no rug in my she-shed. But hey! There are definitely worse problems to have.

Oh I love this! It looks fab under the dining table too, a stroke of genius! I have been deliberating over rugs and curtains for weeks so I totally feel your pain! x
Arrgh — curtains!!!!!!! I haven’t even thought about that yet. We;ve been in the house for 5 years and never had window dressings downstairs!!!!
It looks fab! I love that style and it looks like a really hard wearing but quality rug. Good find, I can’t wait to see what you choose for your she-shed now! #HomeEtc xx
Thanks lovely — yep — slightly flummoxed now. I was going to just ‘borrow’ the new rug to style my dining room pics but it looks SO good in there. Definitely a keeper. Got to think of a plan B for my she-shed!!
Oh I am in love with that rug! I need that rug for my new home office/gym! #HomeEtc
It’s SO gorgeous!!!! I’m totally in love with it too — it’s transformed the whole room! :)
That rug is stunning! It would go perfect in my living room, although I do have to choose a new sofa first
Oooh — totally my language!!! NEW SOFA?!!!!! Lovely — what are you thinking of?
It’s a beautiful rug. I have been looking at rugs for months now. Never making a final decision and oops now I have another site to check out.
The room is looking just lovely. So homely xx
So impressed with them Kara — this rug is my favourite of all the one’s we’ve got. Such great value too — particularly as it’s so huge!! Very impressed with My Rug Store :)
I love geometric patterns! That rug is gorgeous…I love the fact that it’s soft under foot too. Poor she-shed! #homeetc
I know!! In one sense I’m gutted I’ve got to think of a plan B for the she-shed but it’s SO gorgeous — it was made for the dining room!!
Gorgeous… and it gives you an excuse to buy another rug for your she-shed ;) x
Totally what I was thinking — great minds think alike Laura!! ;)
Oooh yes, love that rug! Takes me forever to make decisions like that though, and I just end up living without! :/ #HomeEtc
Aaah I know what you mean ;) But honestly, this one is a winner!!! :)
I love the colour and design, I’m not at all surprised you stole it from yourself!! I’m on the hunt for a rug in one of our bedrooms so will definitely go and check them out X #HomeEtc
I’m SO delighted with it!! It feels lovely — looks very much more expensive that it is too. Would highly recommend! xx
Of course it’s possible to fall in love with a rug. My current love affair is with wallpaper so it has to be. Also perfectly fine to steal from yourself. It looks fab – you are a lady after my own heart. Thank you for hosting #HomeEtc
Haha!! I’ve DEFINITELY fallen for it!! It’s my favourite thing at the mo!! Although it won’t be long before I have my head turned by something else, I bet you!!! ;)
